Federations are a big part of the game and certain mechanics are still used on the non Federation Servers, my idea is to take the concept of Federations but take away the hard work that turns some players off and instead emulate a season of being in a Federation by combining Quests with Federation Shows through either a pre-written storyline that players play through a more unique experience based on either choices, or if they win or lose their 'Live Match'.
Sunday Night Showtime
On each Sunday of the 4 weeks of that month, a Live Match takes place against a pre-made opponent, this could use a master or custom wrestler made for the event that has a scaled stats that are reflected on the player before being ramped up. The player, has a separate stats much like the Master Event wherein we earned tokens to roll boosts and the Master would equally boost when we would.
Federation Shows use to use your Fan count to help generate ticket sales which would then help provide more FE pay-out to players based on their Contract. My idea is to take that concept and run it with this event, your initial Fan count would be the starting point but the amount of fans you'd gain from Live Match and 'Event Sequences' are increased that someone with 2,000 Fan's starting isn't going to have an unfair advantage, just merely earn a little more FE then a player with 100.
Before your Match on Sunday, you'd need to prepare and train for it, as well as run Promo's to help build your Fan base. The more Fan's cheering you on, the better the view count for your match and the bigger your FE pay-out would be. My idea is to use the drop system to give players 2 choices on how they spend that 'token' by either:
- Train for your Match
- Run a Promo
Training for your match nets you some EXP and a % boost to your Event Stats total, but you might lose some fans, while running a Promo will net you a boost in fans and possibly an FE pay-out, but your Stats haven't trained. This give players some strategy to how they play this Event - do you go for Fan's to get more FE but lose out of extra EXP and the chance to win your Live Match.
The Live Match
Sunday has come, its time for the Show. At a specific time set, the Live Match will take place and a report is generated to see if you win or lose, and also see how much EXP and FE you've made for your appearance that night. To make this a little more interesting, some variable could take place, below is my initial thoughts:
- How many Trademarks you hit
- How many Finishers
- Uninterrupted Taunts
- How many total Turns the Match is
- If you win or lose
Based on the above could determine your pay-out, EXP and if you have won or lost extra fans that night. Going too hardcore on Training that it becomes a squash match might be boring but is easy EXP, but if you win while hitting all your finishers, trademarks, taunting and it lasted 70 turns, you might gain more fans and a boost in your FE payout for putting on a good show.
Losing the match however doesn't mean losing fans, or losing out either. Much like winning, the concept of putting on a good show using the above variables can still lead to someone earning a lot of FE if they have a huge Fan count but they might lose Fans because they lost. It again falls the idea of balance.
Heel or Face
One concept I had was choosing if you're Heel or Face and that having a natural boost towards Training and Promoting, as well as Winning and Losing - though I would need to put more thought into how this could be done in a way that wouldn't require an exponential amount of development.
The Story of the Season
Ideally you'd want to have some kind of story and make it more dynamic. My idea for this is if you Win or Lose, your opponent and story might slightly change; this can be achieved through If/Else based algorithm like the below:
Week 1 > Opp 1 > Win = Opp 2, Lose = Opp 1
Week 2 > Opp 2 > Win = Opp 3, Lose = Opp 2
Else if Opp 2 = Opp 1 > Win = Opp 3, Lose = Opp 3
If a player joins later then Week 1, the story picks up as if they lost the weeks before, or it has its own starting point that then jumps to the Week currently taking place.
On the last day of the month, a Pay per View takes place, this is the big one for the Event - all of your training and promoting goes towards this and the pay-out could be big. You're fighting for a title and your opponent is non other then the poster guy of the game, the unnamed bold guy. The rewards for this match are boosted, putting on a good show will net you the best pay-out win or lose.
Anyhow this should be enough to start with, if you like my idea and would like to work with me to expand on it let me know. 🙂
